I liked it. It was an easy read in just a few hours and kept my interest throughout. The advice was practical and simple. The fact that the author was successful using these principles speaks to its effectiveness. After reading, I felt motivated to tune into my "want to" and I agree that the best plans are the ones you devise yourself. Another point that struck me is that you can't out-exercise a bad diet. That's something I have done in the past and it would come back to bite me once I was unable to keep up my 6 mile walks when the weather got bad. I also very much agree that only I can determine the right goal weight for myself based on how I feel. Too often, I've tried to get to the goal based on weight charts. It was always too difficult to achieve, so the end result was backsliding and gaining the weight back. I would have been better off working on maintaining once I reached the weight that felt good to me (which was about 15 lbs. higher than the charts). Overall, I felt the book was well written and worth reading.Product details

This short book, written by a lawyer who lost a significant amount of weight, is long on motivation and (necessarily) short on specifics. I think his focus on the "want to" lose weight (his term for motivation), is what makes this book so useful. I also like his lawerly way of describing cheating /falling off the dieting wagon (deviation) because it is a term that doesn't have guilt or shame attached to it. I think he has a lot of good advice for anyone who wants to lose weight. This little book is really great.
What a waste of money!
Honestly, I didn't know what to expect when I downloaded this book. But after reading it, I can now say I am truly amazed! My attention was captured throughout the entire book and I enjoyed each chapter. Instead of another diet book telling you exactly what to eat, when to eat, how to eat and then ultimately failing at the end or not even getting to the end; Kirk's approach inspires and motivates one to want to lose weight by sharing his own personal journey. I would recommend this book to anyone who has had inner struggles with their weight, their self-esteem or who just want to live a healthier life. Congrats to Kirk for having the courage for not only taking the steps to lose the weight himself, but then to also share his struggles by writing this book.
The best part about the book is we know for sure that what he says works. After seeing this guy's transformation in the Jody Arias trials, it makes eating salads and excercise worth it. This book is a great motivator. Also, I liked that his advice is honest, and he tells us that's it's not easy, and there will be setbacks.
This is well written and from the heart. Bravo for KirkNurmi!
As someone who lost a lot of weight, I was interested in how and why Kirk lost the weight. What I took out of this the most is motivation to keep going. When we are heavy, you learn to live a life of being heavy. Once your weight is under control, everything gets better. I am happy that he wrote this book for people that want to lose weight, and maybe needed that extra motivation. Thank you for opening up, and I am sure everyone around you is very happy for you, as I am. I am proud to say that we have a lot in common! Keel living your life, healthy!
